High Gas Prices Have a Way of Changing Shopping HabitsJune 18, 2008 Let me preface this by saying that I'm not much of a shopper and high gas prices have made me less of one.
I put the dust ruffle on the bed and already, the room was taking on a new personality. I opened the comforter bag, unfolded it and put it on top of the bed and stood there in disbelief. I didn't even get a chance to put the entire comforter on the bed when I noticed it had a huge rip! Ugh! I don't know what bothered me more, the fact that I had to fold the comforter back up and fit it into the bag, or the fact that gas was costing $4.16 a gallon and I had to waste gas driving back to the store.
Rising gas prices have added a whole level to my shopping expeditions. Gone are the days of old when I would walk into a store, purchase items, bring them home and if they didn't fit I would return the item (anything so that I didn't have to go through the aggravation of trying on clothes in the store). Not any more. I'm forced to bring my kids shopping in order for them to try on everything. No more frivolous merchandise return trips. Once we buy it, it stays bought. If it's too big, they'll grow. If it's too small…well, cut off a limb or something to make it fit. I know this is a little extreme, but it's my two cents and I'm sticking with it! That's my 2 cents and I'm sticking with it!
