The Magic Bullet: A Kitchen Gadget That No Kitchen Should Be Without

Every cook has one gadget in their kitchen that they just cannot live without. For some it's a cutting board and others it's a food processor. In my kitchen it's the Magic Bullet. Yes, I said the Magic Bullet. Chef

One night a couple of years ago I was up late watching infomercials. I saw the infomercial for the Magic Bullet and thought "yeah, right," another shyster product. When my child was an infant I bought a product that was supposed to puree food so I could make homemade baby food and all it pureed was my wallet. It didn't work. That cured me of buying TV products.

A few nights later I was up late again (which is unusual) and I happen to see the same infomercial. To humor myself and appeal to my inner cynic I watched them whip up muffins and guacamole and salsa and other types of foods. Lowering my guard for a moment, I thought about how useful this Magic Bullet thingy would be in my kitchen. Since I like to bake and create things from scratch it provides so many more options.

My inner cynic, however, remembered my earlier TV purchasing experience. Rather than ordering it through the TV program, I went to the mall to the "As Seen on TV" store. I found the Magic Bullet, bought it and took it home. It's been a love affair ever since.

Now that I've had the Magic Bullet for a few years and it is still a staple in my kitchen. It is a must for my "hot flashes be gone" green drink and it's wonderful for making homemade cashew butter (my kids don't like peanut butter and will only eat homemade cashew butter - the spoiled little rats).

You haven't had scrambled eggs until you've whipped up a couple of eggs with a few chunks of cream cheese in the Magic Bullet. The eggs become silky and creamy. They almost look good enough to drink just like that (but please refrain from drinking the eggs).

For a healthy cool summer treat add fresh fruit, a little fruit juice and whip with ice and you've got the best imitation of sherbet this side of the Mississippi River. (Don't ask me why the Mississippi River). You get my drift. The possibilities are endless. Fruit The only limitation is your imagination.

My Bullet has not left my counter since I bought it. I'm so hooked on my Bullet that I have one for home and one for travel. I don't mean to sound like a commercial but for any cook who loves gadgets and likes to be able to whip up things on the spur of the moment, the Magic Bullet is the gadget for you.

That's my two cents and I'm sticking with it!
