Teens: How to Impress an Adult
by Gregory Williams
So you want to impress an adult? Well to tell you the truth it really is quite simple. Adults are not too complex. While trying to impress one keep everything relatively simple. Most adults can be impressed within a few easy steps.
- Greet the adult with a "Hello sir or madam." A good greeting will persuade them to view you as a courteous and friendly person. If it is a man give him a good firm handshake. Too strong or weak a handshake can ruin everything.
- Introduce yourself with your name and a quick fact that you may want them to know. Your first name is usually sufficient unless they are complete strangers to you.
- Ask them how they are doing. This will impress them while showing a general compassion and sincerity that most people like to see. A hearty smile wouldn't hurt either. Make the adult feel that you truly care about what they have to say.
- Tell them some positive information about yourself. This is basically anything that would make someone a little bit jealous of you.
- Keep your conversation away from controversial subjects. This can potentially create a negative situation.
- Talk about things you actually know. If you are not familiar with a subject let the adult know. This is better then looking like a fool attempting to fake it by giving erroneous information. Your honesty will impress them. At the end of the conversation thank them for their time. Remember to smile and wave goodbye.
Remember always make sure to keep direct eye contact, be polite, and do not swear. Be careful not to offend the adult.
