Sam & Steph's Adventure
"Okay Mom. We won't" Sam yelled back as she and Stephanie went bike riding. "We'll stay on the block." Sam is short for Samantha and Stephanie is long for Steph. Sam and Steph are BFF's. (Best Friends Forever). They play together every day. They go to the same school (but they're not in the same class). They love dogs, music, video games, swimming and all of the usual stuff that 9 year old girls like. They were having a great time biking when Steph saw a cute little brown fur ball of a puppy. "Awwww" said Stephanie (that's what they say when they see cute pups.) "What?" Sam asked. "Over there. The cutest little furry puppy." replied Steph "Let's go and see if we can pet it!" Sam said excitedly. They dropped their bikes and trotted over to the puppy to pet it. The puppy, however, saw a butterfly and decided to chase it. He bolted "Oh no!" cried Sam. "He's going to get hit by a car!" Sam and Steph took off after the dog. The dog was about to catch the butterfly when...HONK, SCREECH, HONK, HONK, SCREECH! The loud noises frightened the little pup so it ran across the street and tried to hide behind a fire hydrant. There it crouched shaking and whimpering in fear. Sam and Steph dashed across the street and caught up with the pup. Sam scooped him up and tried to comfort him. They were so concerned about the dog that it took few moments before they realized that...uh oh. They had crossed Myers Corners Road. The very road that Sam's mom had told them not to cross. GASP!!!!! They tried to get back across the street before anyone found out but when they looked up, everything looked different. Blackthorn Loop, the street they were riding their bikes on moments ago, was no longer there. Everything looked very strange. What was going on? "Stay on our block. I want to know where the two of you are. Don't go past the Green house on Myers Corners...and tie your sneakers." shouted Sam's mom
as fast as his little furry paws could take him after the butterfly. Sam and Steph saw that he was headed straight for the traffic on Myers Corners Road.
