eHow and Bukisa are two content sites where Freelance writers can quickly earn money. The more you write for these sites the more money you can make. Earning potential begins the moment the article is placed on the site and continues to grow as time progresses.
The attractive quality to these sites is that many (not all) writers earn income from day one.
The eHow Scoop
eHow is a popular website that provides step by step 'How To' articles on just about any thing you want to know. With titles ranging from How to Start a Home Based Debt Collection Agency to How to Prevent Unpleasant Bathroom Odors, readers can find a solution to almost every problem.
eHow is owned by Demand Media (Just in case you're interested, Demand Media was co-founded by Richard Rosenblatt - yes, the very same Mr. Rosenblatt that co-founded MySpace). With its high search engine ranking, pretty much every article posted on the site gets steady traffic. The longer articles remain on the site, the more traffic they get. That's good news for freelance writers.
eHow Writers Compensation Program
Freelance writers who join eHow and sign up for the Writers Compensation Program (WCP) can earn money from each article they post on the eHow site. Payment is based on ad revenue generated from each article. Therefore, the better the selection of keywords, the more money a writer can make.
Payment is made once a month after the earnings reach a minimum of $10. Many writers exceed the $10 minimum within their first month. Others take a little longer. For a real life experience with eHow earnings, check out "My eHow Experiment" and track how eHow earning can accumulate.
eHow Limitation
The major drawback to eHow is that the Writers Compensation Program is only available to US writers only. Non US writers should look into writing for Bukisa.
The Scoop on Bukisa 
Unlike eHow, Bukisa is a relatively new content site. Since they're new on the scene, they don't have the same search engine rankings as eHow, but they seem to be growing and improving.
Bukisa pays its writers based on a per page view formula. Therefore, the more views per article, the more money the writer makes. They do not pay based on revenue per article.
That could be good and bad depending on which way you look at it. If the number of page views dictate how much a writer gets paid, then writers don't have to spend as much time searching for high paying keywords in order to increase their article income. This is not to say that writers should not employ SEO practices, it just means that you don't have to write articles about high-ticket keywords in order to make money.

Bukisa Bonus
In addition to earning money from writing articles, Bukisa offers a referral program. If you refer writers to Bukisa, you get a bonus based on your referral's efforts. If your referral doesn't write any articles or garner page views, your bonus is affected accordingly.
Another nice perk is that Bukisa isn't limited to US writers and they also pay once a month after the writer has earned a minimum of $50.
Maximize Bukisa Earnings
Earnings begin to accumulate from day one with Bukisa. To increase those earnings, you will have to spend a little time marketing your articles and submitting them to social networking sites. You can do that with eHow articles too, but eHow's high search engine ranking will work for you. Bukisa doesn't quite yet have the same clout.
The Long and the Short of it
Both sites are a great way for freelance writers to exercise their craft and get paid for it. If you haven't signed up for either or both of them as yet, it is highly recommended that you check them out. What do you have to lose?
