InternetThe internet has made it much easier to start an on online business. Online businesses are perfect for people who want to work from home, such as stay at home parents, retirees, the disabled or even someone who is looking for a more flexible lifestyle.

Now that you've come to the decision to set up an online business you realize that you only have a shoestring budget. How can you star an online business on a shoestring budget? Don't be discouraged. It is very possible to start a small online business on a small budget.

First, begin by looking for free domain names. Because there are so many companies around who are now selling domain names, the market has become quite competitive. There are a few sites around that will register a domain for you at no charge. Be aware, however, there is a catch with some of them. They may set themselves up as the administrator for your domain and then only transfer ownership to you after a set period of time. If you wish to transfer the domain before the time stipulated, they will charge a small fee. Additionally, some of these companies offer free domain services as long ass they are able to put ads on your website.

Another option is getting a free blog. Blogs are very popular and are easier to get up and running than a website. Blogs can be used to advertise your business in aWWW personal way. Unlike traditional websites, blogs allow you to add personal thoughts and ideas. It also allows for interaction with your readers. You can setup a bolg using sites such as Blogger.com or Wordpress.com. There are other blogging platforms out there, but Blogger is my personal favorite. It is user friendly and quickly indexed by search engines which means more traffic faster.

If you are setting up a website but do not want to pay $10 a month for hosting, you can look for sites which will host your site for free. However, before you jump straight into a free hosting plan, be aware that there are some drawbacks to free hosting. Unlike free blogging sites, most free host sites will place a banner at the top of your pages in exchange for their free service.

If you already have products for sale, then a create a simple webpage or blog touting the benefits of your product. However,if you don't have your own products to sell, you can still make money online. You can either create a new product to sell or be an affiliate to sell someone else's product. Creating your own product will take planning and time. Affiliate marketing is a much quicker option.

Home OfficeAn affiliate is someone who promotes other people's products and receives a commission based upon sales and/or leads generated. This is a great way to start your online business because of the low start up costs and quick learning curve. By using free blogs, you eliminate hosting start up costs.

Clickbank.com, ComissionJunction.com and Amazon.com all offer affiliate programs. A quick search for affiliate markets on Google will provide you with a list of many more. Be sure to align yourself with a reputable affiliate whose products you believe in.

To conclude, starting an online business is much easier compared to setting up a brick and mortar business. Starting an online business does not need a huge start up capital which makes it very easy for anyone to get started online. So start taking action today!
