Where Were We Before Google?

E-mail Print

The other day my brother sent me a link to YouTube video that was pretty interesting. Rather than paraphrase the content of the video, I've embedded it below (If it doesn't display properly, here's the link to the original video on YouTube). If you have a few minutes, look at the video, then you'll have a better understanding of what I'm talking about.

After watching the video I had to stop and think. 10 or 15 years ago when Google wasn't the norm, where did we go to get all of our questions answered?

As I was thinking and folding the clothes, it dawned on me, 95% of the questions that I go to Google for answers didn't exist 10 to 15 years ago. For instance, here are some on my most recent Google queries: Google

Things Have Changed

Remember the days of the encyclopedia? Better yet, remember the days of the encyclopedia on CD? Now, ask your young child, "Do you know what an encyclopedia is?" Want to bet they run to the computer, go to Google and search for the answer.

It's amazing how things have changed. I'm guilty of falling prey to the new technology. Rather than curling up in the bed with a good book, I get the audio book, plug in my earphones and paint the basement while I'm "reading."

Anything is Possible

As the video pointed out, we are now training our children to be excellent in careers that don't currently exist using a technology that has yet to be invented. Actually, I find this to be pretty awesome.

In addition to Barack Obama being at the helm of the United States of America, technology further confirms that anything and everything is possible.

Oh well, that's my 2 cents and I'm sticking with it!
